Camping and Group Camping

COVID-19 Alert:  The following changes to CAMPING reservations have been implemented:

  • Only Mendota and William G. Lunney Lake Farm County Parks will OPEN for camping in June with restrictions for self-contained units ONLY. These units are motor homes or trailers equipped with a fully functioning toilet, water storage container which holds water for the toilet and shower, and a septic tank to take care of any waste.
  • Online reservations for the campsites for the two campgrounds opening in June will be available starting May 28th. Campsites can only be reserved online or by phone. Walk-in registrations are not allowed.
  • Electrical campsites are the only campsites open.
  • Restrooms will be closed and only available to campers on an emergency basis. They will not be available for everyday use. Showers will be CLOSED.
  • Campsite reservations for July and onwards are uncertain at this point, e.g. the reservation may be canceled and there may be restrictions on the type of units that are allowed.

Camping funDane County Parks has campsites that can be reserved for tents, campers, and RVs. All campsite reservations include a complimentary daily dog permit good for the duration of your stay. Please visit our Dogs in Parks page for more information about this permit.

Individual Campsites

Dane County offers campsites at five different parks. Each campground has an accessible site and offers electric sites. Reservation must be made a minimum of 5 days before first day of reservation and for a minimum of 2 nights. Campsite check in begins at 3:00 p.m. the first day of the reservation and check out is no later than 3:00 p.m. on the last day of the reservation. There is a maximum of 6 people and one tent or RV per campsite.

Reserve a Campsite

Group Campsites

Group campsites are larger, rustic (pit toilets and water) areas where a larger group of campers may camp together.  Reservations are required. There is no minimum stay requirement but there is a maximum stay of 14 days. Group campsites are popular with youth groups and family/friend events.  Please contact the Parks Office at (608) 224-3730 to make a group campsite reservation.
