Property: Falk Wells Sugar River Wildlife Area
Project Status: Active or in Progress
Schedule: Summer 2022 wetland construction; Winter 2022-23 frost seeding; Spring 2023 completion

Dane County Parks is partnering with the US Fish & Wildlife Service on a ~30 acre wetland and prairie restoration in the Falk Wells Sugar River Wildlife Area. The project includes building two small berms to create small pools of water for waterfowl habitat. It will also restore one oxbow wetland of ½ acre. The project is designed so that it will not affect drainage/water levels outside of project boundary. Water control structures will control water elevations within the project area. The entire project area to be seeded with native prairie and wetland plants.
