Prairie Moraine County Park

Featuring the Johnstown Moraine and a portion of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail along the northern portion of the site, this 160 acre park provides an excellent opportunity to experience Wisconsin’s glacial history. A scenic overlook offers views from the narrow crest of the moraine of the restored oak savannah and surrounding landscapes. A portion of this park is also one of Dane County’s off-leash dog exercise areas with extensive trails and mowed play areas.

For more information on vegetation management at this park, please view our presentation (PDF).

The park will be CLOSED Wednesday 3/6.  Staff and volunteers will be cutting and removing invasive species and burning brush piles throughout the off-leash area.  For the safety of everyone, both 2 and 4 legged, please use another dog park on Wednesday 3/6, the closest dog park is Badger Prairie County Park.   Note that volunteers are welcome and encouraged to join!
