Nature-Based Solutions for Wetlands and Riparian Areas

The two part workshop, hosted by the Rock River Coalition, will consist of a virtual webinar on May 30th, 2024 and a field component on September 18th, 2024 at the Briggs Wetland, a property owned by The Prairie Enthusiasts in Rock County. Conservation practitioners will share information regarding how to diagnosis hydrological impairments, ecological and societal benefits of nature-based solutions, design criteria, risk assessment, financial assistance and permitting for low-tech, process-based restoration. The September field day will give participants hands-on experience building these types of projects, utilizing beaver dam analogs to restore natural spring flow to the Briggs Wetland and adjacent East Fork of Raccoon Creek.
