Property Plans

A property plan, formerly known as a “master plan,” guides the protection of unique natural, historical and cultural features, guides the development of facilities, and provides recommendations for future land acquisition from willing sellers. All plans follow an intensive consensus-building public participation process and Park Commission review before being adopted by the County Board. Dane County Parks re-named “master plans” to “property plans” in 2022 to better capture the inclusive and participatory nature of these plans. As existing master plans are updated in the future the names will be updated to “property plan” to reflect this change.

Property Plans may provide general long-term vegetation cover goals. Detailed Vegetation and Restoration Management Plans are developed by the Dane County Parks Naturalist and may be included as an appendix to a property plan.
