Sugar River Wildlife Area Basco Unit

The 98-acre Sugar River Basco Unit Wildlife Area is a public hunting area that consists of streambank restoration, habitat improvement and oak savanna restoration projects along the Sugar River by Dane County, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) and Trout Unlimited.  The property offers excellent trout fishing and foraging as the primary recreation opportunities.  A small parking lot is available off STH 69 near the intersection of Henry Road.

Special hunting regulations:

  • Trapping is prohibited on this property by Dane County Board Action.  These lands are not required by the State to be open to hunting or trapping.
