Birdfeeder Making Workshop for Kids

Event Dates

  • Saturday, 01/28/2023 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Event Description

Learn about the feeding habits of local birds, and then assemble and decorate a cedar birdfeeder of your own to take home with you. The hopper-style bird feeder can be used with a variety of different bird seeds. It has clear plexiglass windows to allow you to see the level of birdseed and a hinged roof to allow for easy addition of seed and cleanout of the interior. Participants will use a screwdriver and follow along with the instructor to assemble a bird feeder that can be mounted to a pole or hung from a tree. Also included will be a discussion of the types of bird seed to use to attract the most common birds in our area, the best backyard locations, and the time of year and height above the ground to mount your bird feeder. Quick-drying acrylic paints will be provided for decorating the bird feeder, so be sure to wear old clothes.
